The apparatus is to be designed in such a way that no deposits of filling material form in the filling tube, and that the machine and its environment remain free of dust. The middle piece (17) of the filling tube (11) is made double-walled. Placed onto the free end is a connecting ring which has an air-distribution chamber (23) and an air-outlet orifice (24). Provided inside the inner tube (17a) of the middle piece (17) is a compressed-air feed channel (21) having a radial bore (22) which is in a position matching the air-distribution chamber (23). The front end of the outer tube (17b) of the middle piece (17) is made conical and is provided with perforations (27) or produced from a wire cloth. After the filled bag has been pushed off from the filling tube (11), the front end is cleaned by means of a compressed-air pulse. So that no dust particles pass into the environment, a suction-extraction connection (14) movable in the vertical direction is provided above the filling tube (11). So that the perforations (27) or the wire cloth of the outer tube (17b) also remain free and the operation of cleaning the front end is further assisted, the filling tube (11) is movable by means of a vibration generator (28).
