PURPOSE:To avoid generation of deterioration in a short arc lamp by a method wherein when a tilt above a tolerance amount to the short arc lamp is generated for any reason, this tilt is detected to stop discharge of the short arc lamp or to give warning. CONSTITUTION:When a casing 11 is tilted, a short arc lamp 16 also is tilted together with tilting of the casing 11. In this case, since a spacer 23 of a tilting detection device 21 is arranged in parallel to a light axis L of the short arc lamp 16, when the tilt of the casing 11 is in the direction to tilt the light axis of the short arc lamp 16, the spacer 23 of the tilt detection device 21 connected to the short arc lamp 16 is relatively tilted and when being tilted above the tolerance amount, it comes in contact with either a pendulum 24 or an electrode plate 22, these parts are conducted to operate a control means 20 to stop power supply by a power supply device 19. Thereby, the short arc lamp 16 is prevented from damage. |
