PURPOSE: To obtain a fatty acid composition having blood pressure lowering effect, useful for the treatment and prophylaxis of hypertension, etc., having high allowance and free from severe adverse effect by compounding a mixture of a specific eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid of a specific weight ratio, in which both the acids is contained at a specific ratio based on the total amount of the whole fatty acids including ω-3-fatty acids. CONSTITUTION: This composition is obtained by compounding at least 80wt.% ω-3-fatty acids, in which (whole-Z)-5,8,11,14,17eicosapentaenoic acid (abbreviated as EPA) C20:5 and (whole-Z)4,7,10,13,16,19docosahexaenoic acid (abbreviated to DHA) C22:6 exist at a ratio of 1:2 to 2:1, and both the acids are contained in such an amount to constitute at least 75wt.% of the total fatty acids. An especially preferable example of the composition contains at least 90wt.% long chin polyunsaturated ω-3-fatty acids, in which EPA and DHA constitute 85wt.% or more of the total fatty acids, and the ratio of EPA:DHA is 1:1 to 2:1, especially about 3:2.
