Process for obtaining a product for the protection of rusted iron surfaces, through which a product is obtained for the protection of rusted iron surfaces by means of a chemical reaction producing a patina on the iron, making use of the oxide thereof, producing a 100% protective layer leaving prepared surfaces for subsequent painting which do not require any other treatment. Can also be applied to new surfaces. For this a set of separate mixtures in 8 tanks is prepared at ambient temperature in a first stage, the mixtures being allowed to stand for between 24 and 48 hours. Then in a subsequent stage appropriate doses of the separate mixtures obtained in the 8 tanks are mixed together in a single tank, and once mixed are allowed to stand for approximately 35 hours in order to obtain the product.
