PURPOSE:To enable optimum knocking control to be carried out for each valve timing by selecting conditions, in other words, the judgment parameter of a knocking judgment means or the control parameter of a knocking control means in response to the output of an intake/exhaust valve timing condition detecting means. CONSTITUTION:In a device in which a driving circuit 21 for controlling a fuel injection valve 6 and ignition plugs 22 provided on respective cylinders, and a solenoid valve 23 for carrying out the valve-timing changeover control of intake/exhaust valves are controlled by an ECU 5 respectively, a knocking sensor 24 is fitted in the circumferential wall of the cylinder block of an internal combustion engine 1 in the vicinity of the top dead center. And the valve timing is controlled by the ECU 5 via the solenoid valve 23 in response to the operating conditions of the engine, and also the occurrence of knocking is judged on the basis of the output of the knocking sensor 24, and in accordance with the judgment, ignition timing is controlled. Further, it is so contrived that the judgment parameter at the time of knocking judgment is selected in accordance with the detected result of the valve timing conditions. |
