A device according to the invention comprises a reactor 1 for enthalpic impounding of the water vapour present in air. This reactor comprises an air entry in the upper part and an air exit 2 equipped with a fan 3. It includes perforated sprinkler bars 5 which inject a finely atomised hygroscopic liquid, preferably a solution of phosphoric acid, into the reactor. The dilute liquid collected in the bottom 6 of the reactor flows into an exchanger 7 and then into electrodialysis cells 8, where it is concentrated. The concentrated liquid is recycled by a pump 9 towards the reactor 1. One application is the production of clean dry air at low temperature, which can be employed for drying or storing alimentary or pharmaceutical products. <IMAGE>
