PURPOSE:To provide the subject protease in an increased enzymatic activity, a shortened time and an improved storage amount by adding keratin(-containing material) to a medium and subsequently culturing a microorganism having a protease-producing ability in the mixed medium. CONSTITUTION:(B) A keratin-containing material such as wool or nail is added to (A) a medium containing a combination of soybean casein, yeast extract, urea, etc., preferably in an amount of 1-100g per l of the component A. The prepared medium is inoculated with e.g., a Bacillus bacterium and cultured preferably at 20-50 deg.C at a pH.65-11.0, followed by recovering and purifying the product to provide the objective protease. |
