At the location of its station 7 for welding under vacuum, this machine comprises two complementary movable work assemblies 8a, 8b arranged on either side of the site of the tray 1b to be closed and suitable for constituting a closed chamber around this tray. When it is at rest, the upper work assembly 1a of this welding station is arranged in an inclined position forming, relative to the two films 2, 3 disposed horizontally, an acute angle alpha which is open towards the upstream and this assembly is mounted on guiding and/or displacement means suitable for lowering it and tilting it into a horizontal work position against the complementary lower assembly 8b. The means for guiding the closure film 3 are arranged so that, upstream of the part welded to trays 1a which are already closed, this film is lifted to an inclination similar to that of the stand-by position of the upper work assembly 8a. Moreover, this assembly contains a heating plate 11 suitable for heating the opposite part 3a of the closure film 3 before this assembly is lowered into its work position. This machine permits packaging of food products or other products in shallow packing trays which are produced by thermoforming inside this machine. <IMAGE>
