The invention relates to a road wheel (1) with a plastic rim body (2), consisting of a rim disc (2c) with a rim (2b) and profiled outer face (2a) arranged thereon, which has undercuts (2d1, 2d2) for receiving an annular preform or insertion ring (3a) which forms the rubber tyre (3) of the road wheel (1) and on its profiled underside (3b) also has undercuts (3c1, 3c2) and an outer face (3d) behind which injection moulding can take place at a temperature of 220 to 240@C in order to form the tyre (3). The road wheel (1) is provided with a customary hub (4) and a sheath (5). With the proposed method according to the invention for producing the road wheel (1), the high injection heat of the plastic for the rim body (2) is used to obtain a permanent connection by melting on its profiled outer face (2a) and subsequent fusing with the profiled underside (3) of the preform (3a). The preform (3a) is injection moulded independently at approximately 190@C and after cooling is inserted into the injection mould for the rim body (3a). <IMAGE>
