The processor control for the engine management system alters the different engine parameters to reduce fuel burn. Each parameter is altered progressively and in turn with the engine speed constant. When the engine speed alters the control sequence starts again. A first stage weakens the mixture while a second stage advances the ignition. Third and fourth stages weaken the mixture and advance the ignition while a final stage enriches the mixture. If the engine speed is maintained then the control the sequence re-runs from the second- to fourth stage, if the speed is altered the entire sequence is restarted.
