Memory arrangement for a narrow-band picture transmission device

In this arrangement, in which a non-uniform data stream with high bit frequency and pauses between individual data words, which is produced by a data-reducing coding of video signals, is converted into a uniform data stream with low bit frequency, a random access memory (RAM) is provided which can be supplied with the non-uniform data stream, write addresses, read addresses and a read/write signal. The write addresses and the read addresses are generated by in each case one address counter, which address counters are incremented by the clock signal which is synchronous with the non-uniform and, respectively, with the uniform data stream. The read/write signal is set to the level provided for reading during the pauses in the non-uniform data stream.
