PURPOSE:To obtain a base body suitable for providing polarizing plate having high mass productivity by constituting the base body of a mixture consisting of a high molecular material having a positive intrinsic double refractivity and a high molecular material having a negative intrinsic double refractivity. CONSTITUTION:In the polarizing plate consisting at least of one layer of a polarizer 11 and one layer of base body 12, the base body is constituted of a mixture consisting of the high molecular material having the positive intrinsic double refractivity and the high molecular material having the negative intrinsic double refractivity. The mixed polymer to be used for the base body is drawn, and the intrinsic double refractivity of the base body 12 constituted of the mixture is adjusted to zero by mixing the high molecular material having the positive intrinsic double refractivity with the high molecular material having the negative intrinsic double refractivity in an appropriate weight ratio. Thus, the polarizing plate having high mass productivity is obtd. |
