PURPOSE:To facilitate mounting and demounting of a cover means of the low number of parts and to enable execution of reliable covering without needing a control hole by providing a ring member engaged externally of first and a second cover, with which a propeller shaft and a joint part, respectively, are covered and engaged with a joint part. CONSTITUTION:In mounting of a cover, the cover is engaged externally of a shank 2 of a propeller shaft 1 and integrally secured thereto through an engaging part 20a, and first and second covers 23 and 20, the second cover 20 of which is pointed to the joint member side, are forcibly advanced in the direction of an axis. A support part 20b of the cover 20 is engaged with an outer ring member 8 of a bearing part 4 of the shaft 1, the covers 20 and 23 are held coaxially on the shaft 1 and in a position in the direction of an axis to cover a shank 2 with the cover 23. Simultaneously, a joint part A of the shaft 1 and an universal joint B preceded by the joint part are covered with the cover 20. A ring member 26 is engaged externally of the cover support part 20b and slid in the direction of an axis. Through the slide of the ring member, a plurality of engaging parts 21 mounted to the support part 20b and usually opened axially outwardly are pressed radially inwardly and locked to the outer ring member 8, and the covers 23 and 20 are mounted on a shaft 1. |
