Method and arrangement for detecting objects passing a call-up signal barrier in mine operations

In mine operations, persons are detected when they pass a call-up signal barrier (3a...3f) in that a call-up signal is transmitted into the signal barrier area and each response signal is processed by a transceiver carried by the person. The mine building is divided into separate zones (I...IV) by a number of call-up signal barriers (3a...3f) distributed in the room. At each transition from one zone to another zone, the number of persons and the direction in which they have passed are detected. The data with respect to number of persons and direction of their passage, detected at all signal barriers of the zones (I...IV), are centrally stored in a processor (30) and the current number and distribution of the persons are determined from these data. In addition to the detection of the distribution of persons, switching processes can also be triggered in the individual zones in dependence on population, particularly a light or operating plant in a zone (IV) can be switched on or off when the first person enters the zone or the last person leaves the zone (IV). <IMAGE>
