PURPOSE:To enhance recording characteristics and reproduction characteristics by using a specified compound for enhancing solubility in solvents, jointly with an organic coloring matter. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I is incorporated together with an organic coloring matter. In formula I, each of R1 to R12 is H, OCH3, OC2H5 or OC3H7, and X<+> is a quaternary ammonium cation. The coloring matter is preferably a cyanine coloring matter in which a methine chain comprises pentamethine. With the compound of formula I used as a quaternary ammonium salt, solubility in solvents is enhanced. It is thereby possible to prepare a coating liquid by dissolving the compound of formula I in a solvent together with the organic coloring matter, apply the coating liquid uniformly to a resin base, and to impart a recording laser light absorptivity to an optical recording layer comprising the compound, thereby making up for a deficiency in absorptivity of the coloring matter. |
