The invention relates to a device for forming of a long hole, especially for increasing the size of the hole 34 in the axle journals of the cylinders 30 in a papermaking machine without detaching the cylinders from the papermaking machine. The device comprises two spindles 1,1', one inside the other, and a rotation device 5 of the outer spindle 1', which causes the outer spindle 1' to rotate, and a machine-cutting tool 8 connected to the outer spindle 1'. The outer spindle 1' moves to and fro in the axial direction by means of a thread in the inner spindle 1. The inner spindle can rest against the object to be turned in order to act as a guide member for the forming. <IMAGE>
