The invention relates to an entirely self-contained alarm system with active infrared detection. The system consists, in the same housing, of a detector 2 emitting an infrared beam which, being reflected by the reflector 5, triggers an alarm of two to three minutes characterised by: - the production of a sound signal at a power of 110dB, modulated in frequency, produced by a loud speaker 1 on the one hand, - the presence of a socket for connection of external appliances on the other hand. The system can be powered by the mains or by a battery. The system according to the invention is more particularly intended for individuals requiring an alarm which is simple to use and is movable. <IMAGE>
