An optoelectronic device for thread monitoring, especially for textile machines, is simplified in that the light-emitting and light-receiving elements (10, 11) are arranged at a distance from the thread-guide eye (3) and are connected to the latter via light guides (8). The actual thread monitor therefore now consists only of a housing (2) which forms the thread-guide eye (3) and in which the light guides (8) terminate. The entire associated electronic switching arrangement, especially for a plurality of thread monitors (1), is combined in a special constructional unit (12). <IMAGE>
