PURPOSE:To shorten the operating time of a silver staining method and to enhance staining capacity by adding thiosulfate to a reducing agent. CONSTITUTION:A support carrier containing a substance to be examined is treated with a fixing agent to fix said substance and subsequently pretreated with a sensitizer while the treated carrier is treated with a silver staining solution to be developed by a reducing agent. In this case, thiosulfate is contained in the reducing agent. Said thiosulfate is sodium thiosulfate.
