PURPOSE:To make tonel displays with less display flickering by controlling the ON/OFF of a display device at every transversal dot direction and longitudinal line direction. CONSTITUTION:At a binarized data generating section 7, the threshold level 52 of 4-bit data corresponding to the same dot is compared with tone data 50 at every dot of a display device and 1-bit binarized data 51 are generated. At a threshold level generating section 9, row vectors of a dither matrix are periodically selected in the order from r1 to r4 at every four periods of frame signals 21 and every period of line signals 22 and column vectors of the dither matrix are periodically selected in order at every periods of the signals 21 and dot cross signals 20. Therefore, the generating section 9 generates the element (threshold values 52) of the dither matrix corresponding to each dot of the display device. As a result, the ON/OFF for display of each dot of the display device is controlled at every transversal dot direction and longitudinal line direction at every frame period. |
