A packaged food recovery apparatus for separating food from flexible packaging enclosing the food comprises an input station 11 for receiving packages 13, of food, means 17, for conveying the packages from the input station to a cutting station 15 at which the packaging material is slit, and for conveying the slit packages to a discharge station, and a separating device 20 arranged at the discharge station to receive the slit packages and operable to separate the food from each package. The cutting station comprises to horizontally rotatable, laterally and longitudinally offset discs 21, 23 with a guide 23 being disposed between the discs to turn successive package through 90 DEG so that the discs form a cut cross in the upper surface of the package. At this discharge station the out package is inverted onto shaker bars 24 below an empty package suction hood 27, 28. In another embodiment Figs. 6 and 7, packages are fed by an inclined flighted conveyor 66 and discharged after slitting down, in inverted condition, into mesh separating passage. <IMAGE> |
