PURPOSE: To obtain a thrombolytic agent comprising, as an active ingredient, a plasminogen activator protein product expressed by a polydeoxyribonucleotide segment coding a plasminogen activator protein and substantially having characteristics of urokinase. CONSTITUTION: This thrombolytic agent comprises, as an active ingredient, a plasminogen activator protein product expressed by a polydeoxyribonucleotide segment coding a plasminogen activator protein and substantially having characteristics of urokinase and has activities similar to that of naturally derived urokinase which is expensive in the production cost even when tissue culture is used. Furthermore, the active ingredient can be produced by a method similar to that of antibiotic compounds obtained by introducing modified plasmid in which a deoxyribonucleic acid coding a plasminogen activator concerning human urokinase is integrated into bacteria or other microorganisms and culturing these microorganisms.
