The invention relates to a pressure joint 4 which is especially suitable for sealing and/or supporting cracks 3 and other faults in a tubular component 1. According to the invention, a prestressed winding which consists of a number of layers of band or wire 5 is arranged over the defective place. According to an especially suitable embodiment, the wire 5 or band consists of memory metal. Before winding on around the component without any appreciable tensile stress in the wire 5, the wire 5 has, at a temperature below the critical temperature of the memory metal, been cut to a suitable length for bringing about the desired compressive stress in the joint 4 after winding on over the defective place and subsequent raising of the temperature to above the critical temperature. <IMAGE> |
