Metal core printed circuit board

Such a printed circuit board has a metal core (2) which is surrounded by a sheath (3) made of dielectric material. Conventionally, it is produced by a metal core in the form of a plate being coated on both sides with plates made of an insulating material, for example from paper or glass-fibre mats impregnated with synthetic resin. The problem is to produce such printed circuit boards at a reduced labour cost. This problem is solved by the sheathing (3) of the printed circuit board (1) being produced using the injection die-casting technique, and by the metal core (2) being produced as a three-dimensional moulded plate. In consequence it is possible to construct the metal core (2) such that heat losses from components can be dissipated directly via it. In addition, a defined position of the metal core (2) can be ensured during injection die-casting, and a good connection of the sheathing (3) to the metal core (2). <IMAGE>
