PURPOSE:To automatically decide the number of segments for measurement required for changing point detecting algorithm by making the segments for measurement to correspond to the sides of a produce rectangle one side by one side and setting plural segments having the same length as the segments for measurement have in parallel with each other at regular intervals, with the segments for measurement being used as a reference. CONSTITUTION:Segments 22 for measurement are set against the picture pattern of each pin row for surface mounting parts and contact pattern row so that the segments 22 can become almost perpendicular to the pattern direction and the position of each pin row and contact pattern row from the variation of brightness on the segments 22. In such a case, a rectangle is produced by using given two points as the diagonal points of the rectangle and plural segments having the same length as the segments 22 have are set in parallel with each other at regular intervals while the segments 22 which are required for an algorism detecting a variable point are made to correspond to the sides of the rectangle one by one while using the segment 22 as a reference segment. Therefore, the number of the segments for measurement can be decided automatically.
