PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a pit and to also reduce recording power by providing the first layer consisting of an org. dye and an ignitable binder on a substrate and further providing the second layer composed of a low m.p. metal thereon. CONSTITUTION:An optical recording medium is rotated and irradiated with semiconductor laser beam 22 on the side of a substrate to perform recording. Whereupon, a layer 2 consisting of an org. dye and an ignitable binder being the first layer absorbs laser beam to become hot and burnt. At this time, a low m.p. metal layer 13 being the second layer absorbs combustion heat to be melted to form a pit 21. Regeneration is performed by projecting laser power beam on the recording medium on the side of the substrate to read the intensity change of reflected beam. As mentioned above, by using the layer 12 of the org. dye and the ignitable binder for absorbing laser beam as the first layer and the low m.p. metal layer 13 as the second layer, an optical recording medium for an optical disk low in recording power, making a pit diameter small and capable of performing high density recording is obtained. |
