The fact that supporting fixtures in the explosion welding of cylindrical workpieces in known manner require a split fixture to allow the workpiece to be removed after the work operation means that these are structurally weak and have a short working life. This additionally calls for devices of, for example, hydraulic construction for the manoeuvring, which makes the tools expensive. The invention indicates a method for use in the explosion welding of two concentrically situated cylindrical workpieces using a counter-holding outer tool and an explosive charge placed inside the inner workpiece. The invention is characterized in that a liquid gap 4 is made between the tool 5 and the workpiece 3 located closest to the tool and in that this liquid gap is shut off at its two ends by a seal 6 charged with a retarding mass 7 which is sufficiently large for the workpieces to be explosion welded one to the other. <IMAGE> |
