PREPARATION OF PLATE-SHAPED CATALYST FOR REMOVING NITROGEN OXIDE

PURPOSE:To prevent the release and detachment of a catalytic component from a metal base plate by coating a thin metal plate with a catalytically active component and molding the coated metal plate into a predetermined shape to apply forcible air-drying to the molded one for a definite time or more at room temp. CONSTITUTION:Slits are formed to a thin plate composed of stainless steel to form expanded metal and metal aluminum is applied to said metal by flame spraying in an oxidizing atmosphere to form a catalyst base plate. After a catalytically active component for removing nitrogen oxide is applied to said base plate, the coated plate is molded into a predetermined shape and the molded one is dried for 2hr or more in an atmosphere of 40 deg.C or less while air is sent at velocity of 3- 7m/s and finally baked at predetermined temp. When this room temp. forcible air-drying is performed, only the moisture in the calalytic component is discharged and the aluminum component flame- sprayed to the metal base plate is also corroded by sulfuric acid and the close adhesive strength of the base plate and the catalytic component is increased to make the catalytic component hard to release.
