PURPOSE:To control a device even from a location parted from a device to be controlled to which no optical remote control signal reaches by converting a code data of a memory into an optical remote control signal, transmitting the resulting signal and sending the operating state of the controlled device as a sound signal via a wire to the operator. CONSTITUTION:Home telephone sets 14a-14c send a DTMF signal for optical control in the operation of a dial button. When a DTMF signal detection section 2 of an infrared ray remote controller 11 receives the DTMF signal, it is sent to the control section 4 and in the case of an infrared ray control signal, a code data is read from a ROM 3 and outputted to an infrared ray control signal conversion section 5. Then an infrared ray lighting section 7 is driven to activate a TV receiver 15 or the like being the controlled device with the infrared ray remote control signal and the sound signal is amplified by a transmission amplifier 9 and the result is sent to an extension and confirmed by the home telephone sets 14a-14c. Thus, the controlled device is controlled even from a location to which no optical remote control signal reaches.
