ELECTRIC TERMINAL FOR FLAT POWER CABLE

PURPOSE: To provide a reliable and durable electromechanical coupling which crimps the leading edge of a cable with its pair of plate parts to be screwed on each other and thus firmly holds the cable with its plurality of needles stuck into an insulator on the cable. CONSTITUTION: A central adapter 40 is fitted to one end 12 of a cable to form a terminal which is to be fixed inside an insulating body assembly 22 comprising a first and a second cover 24 and 26. The covers 24 and 26 adapted to be easily swung onto or away from each other are screwed on each other to latch and seal off the end of the terminate cable. The contact parts 42 of the adapter 40 are placed along passages 28 extending inward from a fitting face 30 so as to be coupled to mating contact parts. The body assembly 22 is designed according to the type of the contact parts 42 formed in the adapter 40 and the application of the connector. The connector is thus easily applicable to cables which are free of processing in advance and establishes reliable electromechanical connection with cables.
