PURPOSE:To output a character and a symbol having a tonal property even by an output device of low resolution by executing painting-out against the inside of an outline in accordance with an error diffusing method at the time of generating a dot image of the character and the symbol by utilizing outline font data. CONSTITUTION:A graphic processor 5 executes an access to a font memory 4 for storing outline font data in accordance with a prescribed character code, and develops an outline path image based on the outline font data. Subsequently, binary gradation expressing data is generated, while calculating through a line memory 6 an error diffusion value in a prescribed matrix in which the outline path image is developed, based on density information which is designated and inputted in parallel, and the inside of the outline path image is painted out by the binary gradation expressing data, while comparing the binary gradation expressing data and the outline path image on an image buffer 7. In such a way, even by an output device of low resolution, a tonal image or character can be printed and displayed. |
