The subject of the invention is methods and devices for transporting lengths of wires, the two ends of which are held by two gripping means carried by a conveyor. A device according to the invention includes a station 6 for paying-out the wires which includes a wire magazine 7 provided with means for selecting the wires, means 8a, 8b for paying out the wires, a telescopic guide tube 10, and a shear cutter 11. It includes a conveyor 1 carrying pairs of grippers 2 which hold the two ends of each length of wire. It furthermore includes a disc 12 which is driven rotationally by a motor 15 and can move vertically by means of a cylinder (jack) 17. The disc 12 carries a gripper 18 and fingers 19. Upwardly open supports 20 equipped with a snap hook 21 are fixed to each gripper 2. One application is the construction of automatic wiring machines. <IMAGE>
