A hydrostatic nut for a screw mechanism with a plurality of component nuts which are arranged so as to be fixed against rotation relative to one another and with hydrostatic bearing pockets machined into the thread flanks of the component nuts and uniformly distributed on the circumference has component nuts, each of which consists of just one complete, 360@ thread turn; the axial spacing of the plane boundary surfaces of each component nut is exactly equal to the pitch of the screw.
