PURPOSE:To increase a pumping loss and improve an exhaust brake effect, by arranging the effective pipe length of a pair of exhaust flow passages, which collect exhaust from plural cylinders to guide the exhaust to an exhaust brake valve part, to a specific value. CONSTITUTION:Exhaust manifolds 3, 4 are communicated to exhaust flow lines 6, 7 and guided to an exhaust brake valve part 5. An effective pipe length of the lines 6, 7 is selected to the length in which pulsation acted with pressure in the vicinity of an exhaust valve as the positive pressure is generated when the exhaust brake is applied. In this way, when the exhaust brake is applied, the positive pressure generated in a location of exhaust ports increases a pumping loss, and an exhaust brake effect can be improved. |
