OPTICAL NONLINEAR MATERIAL AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain the larger secondary optical nonlinear constant than in case of a side chain type liquid crystal high polymer alone with a polarization treatment under a low electric field by making a low molecule having optical nonlinearity compatible with the side chain type liquid crystal high polymer having an optical nonlinear liquid crystal side chain. CONSTITUTION:The side chain type liquid crystal high polymer which consists of the part larger than 10<-30>esu secondary molecular sensitivity as liquid crystal side chain and the spacer atom group coupling this part to the high polymer main chain and the compd. having the secondary molecular sensitivity larger than 10<-30>esu are compatible. Namely, in the case of the liquid crystal high polymer of the material which resembles in structure to the liquid crystal side chain and is doped with the low molecular optical nonlinearity having good compatibility therewith or resembles in structure to the liquid crystal side chain and is bonded to the high molecular main chain via the spacer atom group longer than the spacer atom group of the high molecular liquid crystal side chain in order to assure the kinetic property thereof, the liquid crystal high molecular is oriented and is subjected to the polarization treatment.
