A gondola display stand with high packing density comprises a fixed plinth 11, a support 12, which extends vertically upwards from the back of the fixed plinth, and which has at least one shelf 15, which hangs out over the fixed plinth. Both the plinth and the shelf have upper surfaces 33, 24, which incline downwards and forwards, so that goods standing on the surfaces slide forward against stop devices 20 at the front edge of the plinth and shelf. A fixed display stand, which has a plurality of columns and rows of shelves 70, which incline forwards and downwards, are fitted on the plinth. There are also spring-loaded shelves 19, adjustably suspended on the support by means of new fittings for shelves. The shelves are advantageously made from a plurality of longitudinal bars and a plurality of transverse bars, which are welded at the point of intersection. <IMAGE>
