The invention relates to a device forming a seat slide. According to the invention, it comprises a lower rail 20 having a slide portion 23 with first and second lateral walls 21 and 22, an upper rail 30 arranged longitudinally so that it can slide on the lower rail, the upper rail having a flat main wall portion which faces the slideway portion when the upper rail is correctly arranged on the lower rail and first and second tongues 34 and 35 which extend beyond the flat main wall portion of the upper rail into the slide portion of the lower rail, the first and second tongues being placed close to the internal surfaces of the first and second lateral walls of the rail respectively.
