A feedstuff for monogastric animals, such as poultry, containing non-fermented barley has an amylolitic extrinsic enzyme dispersed therein, e.g. by the addition to the feedstuff of a non-fermented cereal-grain supplement containing up to 25% by weight of the enzyme. The enzyme or enzymes, which may be present in the form of a crude mixture obtained from a fermentation broth such as is produced by the fermentation of Aspergillus oryzae, are preferably present in an amount sufficient to modify 20 to 35% of the starch content of the barley. |
