The connecting rod has a substantially pressure-biassed shaft extending between a piston bolt eye and a lift pin eye. At least one tensioned looped band is slung round the piston bolt eye with its loop ends fixed on the side of the lift pin eye remote from the piston bolt eye. These loop ends (6,7) enclose loop bolts (8,9) which run axially parallel to the lift pin eye (2) and engage behind lugs (10,11) on the side of the lift pin eye through the areas which are free of the loop belt (5). USE/ADVANTAGE - Easier automatic assembly of the loop belt and connecting rod is possible.
