PURPOSE:To improve far visibility and road visibility by locating the light source for a running beam nearly at the focal point of a lower reflecting surface and locating the light source for a passing beam slightly above the focal point of an upper reflecting surface. CONSTITUTION:The rotary axis xu-xu of an upper reflecting surface 3 is located above and the rotary axis xd-xd of a lower reflecting surface 4 is located below, they are extended in parallel with each other, the rotary axes of these two reflecting surfaces and focal points fu and fd are nearly overlapped on a plane, the light source 7 for a running beam is located nearly at the focal point of the lower reflecting surface 4, the light source 8 for a passing beam is located slightly above the focal point of the upper reflecting surface 3. The light intensity at the center of the running beam is increased to improve far visibility, the light directed downward in the running beam and the passing beam is increased to improve road visibility, the visibility directly ahead of an automobile in the passing beam, e.g., this side from 6m ahead, is improved. |
