PURPOSE:To improve durable life of a recording head by a method wherein thermal energy is made to act on recording liquid containing C.I. food black 2. CONSTITUTION:An electricity to heat converting element 102 comes in contact with liquid induced via a heat acting surface 9 as an energy acting surface in a heat acting part 107 which is a liquid drop forming energy acting part. When electrification of the electricity to heat converting element turns ON, recording liquid existing in a heat acting part 107 reaches a sudden gasification state, and generation of a bubble and its growth occur in a moment to discharge recording liquid existing between the heat acting part 107 and an orifice 105 as a liquid drop. A content of C.I. food black 2 in the recording liquid is 0.5 to 20wt.% total weight of the recording liquid and is preferably within a range of 0.5 to 15wt.%.
