PURPOSE:To pass an optical fiber into a tube without changing a filament for traction to the optical fiber by winding the tube to a coil shape and supplying the optical fiber into the tube while oscillating the coil and passing pressure fluid into the tube. CONSTITUTION:The front end part of the optical fiber is drawn out of a hermetic container 6 and is inserted into the inlet part of the tube 1. The inlet end of the tube 1 is positioned to the lowermost end of the coil 26 of the tube and the optical fiber is inserted into the tube 1 along nearly the tangent direction of the coil 26 of the tube 1. The gaseous nitrogen in a nitrogen cylinder 15 flows through the container 6 into the tube 1 at a high flow rate when an oscillating table 19 is oscillated by driving oscillating motors 27, 28 and a solenoid operated stop valve 14 is opened. As a result, the front end part of the optical fiber is carried by the high-pressure gas and is put into the tube 1. The optical fiber can then be passed into the tube 1 without changing the filament for traction to the optical fiber. The optical fiber is passed into the tube by applying flexibility directly to the optical fiber by the flow of the fluid and, therefore, the disconnection of the optical fiber is obviated. |
