PURPOSE:To completely separating the abrasive grain and shavings from magnetic fluid to reduce the quantity of magnetic fluid required for grinding a spherical work by turning a driving lap with a spherical work held by both the internal face of a vessel-like float in the lap liquid inside the flat. CONSTITUTION:With a vessel-like float 5 floating in magnetic fluid 9 in an external vessel 4, the magnetic field is generated for the magnetic fluid 9 by a magnetic field generating means 8 to give the floating force to the float 5. While a spherical work 3 to be ground is held in the lap liquid 10 contained in the float 5 by both the internal face 6 of the float 5 and the driving lap 1, the driving lap 1 is turned to grind the spherical work 3. During the grinding since the abrasive grain contained in the lap liquid 10 and shavings are completely separated from the magnetic fluid 9, the quantity thereof required for grinding may be reduced and the replacement of abrasive grain be facilitated. |
