PURPOSE:To simply desorb malodorous gases adsorbed so as to make it possible to regenerate a deodorizing material, by arranging a number of activated carbon fibers, some pieces of catalytic yarn and narrow heating elements in parallel, and forming a woven sheet from weaving yarn and disposing electrodes at opposite sides of the woven sheet. CONSTITUTION:A deodradizing apparatus comprises a thin-type box-shaped case opened at one side for allowing air to flow therethrough, and deodorizing material disposed inside the case in such a manner that it is stretched to be opposed to the opening of the case. Malodorous gases included in indoor air which is forced to flow into the case by natural convection are adsorbed by activated carbon fibers 6, for deodorization of the air. After the adsorption of the malodorous gases an electric current is caused to flow via a lead 3 to woven electrodes 7, 7 disposed at opposite sides of a woven sheet 1 and hence a heating element 4 is caused to generate heat for heating both the activated carbon fibers 6 and pieces of catalytic yarn 5, so that the malodorous gases are desorbed from the activated carbonate fibers 6 and also the malodorous gases desorbed are then catalytically burned for deodorization by help of oxidation due to the pieces of catalytic yarn 5 heated. The deodoradizing material can therefore be regenerated without use of a regenerator. |
