A membrane film which is melt-adhesively connected to a nonwoven base and which is water- and air-tight and also water-vapour-permeable adheres exclusively as a result of contact with hotmelt-adherable binding fibres contained in a sufficient amount on the film side of the nonwoven. The production process consists of continuously effecting the web laydown, the inner thermal consolidation of the fibres and subsequently the lamination with the membrane film via the hotmelt adhesive fibres.
