PURPOSE:To nearly halve the number of a pole chambers in comparison with a conventional electrolytic cell by using a structural electrode body equipped with a pair of same kind of electrode bodies having large distance between electrodes as a central structural electrode body and utilizing city water, etc., large in liquid resistance as an electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:A pair of right and left pole chambers are constituted of the electrolytic chambers 7 which are provided to the side walls 2 of an electrolytic cell 1 and have electrode bodies 4 only on the single side. A pole chamber constituted of at least one electrode chamber 7' which has a pair of same polar electrode bodies 4 on both sides is laminated between the above-mentioned right and left pole chambers via the diaphragms 8 so as to position the different kind of electrode bodies 4 on both sides of the diaphragms 8. The distance between a pair of same polar electrode bodies 4 is made sufficiently large so that electrolysis is not substantially caused while keeping both electrode bodies 4 as an anode and a cathode. Furthermore these electrode bodies 4 are connected with the electrode bodies 4 of the side wherein the different kind of electrode bodies 4 adjacent via the diaphragms 8 are not opposed thereto. In other words, the structure is simple as the electrolytic cell for electrolyzing an electrolyte large in liquid resistance and the number of the pole chambers is nearly halved. |
