PURPOSE:To easily detect the residual life of the gas concn. sensor by comparing the current value obtd. by blowing a gas of a known concn. to the gas concn. sensor with a previously measured reference value. CONSTITUTION:An ion conductive plate 1 constituted of a solid electrolyte is constituted of stabilized zirconia formed by solutionizing a bivalent or tervalent metal oxide to pure zirconium oxide. A pair of electrode plate 2 are provided on the respective surfaces. Electrode plates 2 are constituted of porous platinum and a cap 3 having a small hole 3A is joined atop the one electrode plate 2. The current when a prescribed voltage is impressed to the sensor is proportional to the moving quantity of the carrier as an oxygen ion and the oxygen concn. of the gas sucked through the small hole 3A of the cap 3 is detected from the current value. The current value obtd. by blowing the gas of a known concn. is compared with the previously measured current value of the same concn., by which the degree of the deterioration of the sensor is measured. |
