A transducer (10) for providing an improved connection between a diaphragm and a sensor, comprises a sensor beam (14) fixed to a body within a cavity, and a diaphragm (18) attached to a body side over a second cavity communicating with the first one. A shaft assembly (120) connects the diaphragm and sensor and comprises rigidifying material (126) connecting respective elements secured to diaphragm and beam. The elements are a stub shaft (122) and a hollow cylindrical member (124) surrounding the shaft. The rigidifying material is epoxy resin in the space between shaft and member and in the space between shaft end and the bottom of the member.
