The invention relates to a self-adhesive label for marking glass troughs (5) for picture tubes and a method for using such labels. The label is to be resistant against heat treatment. The marking picture (3) of the label consists of a mixture of glass solder dyes (colorants) and is applied on a film (2) of a methacrylate. The latter evaporates in the ash (calcar) furnace without residue. <IMAGE>
