Installation for separating a mixture of sand, water and impurities lighter than sand, having a vibrating sorter having at least one feed funnel for charging the vibrating sorter, a light-material overflow and a heavy-material outlet on the vibrating sorter and a vibrating drive for directed linear vibrations. The mixture is delivered to the feed funnel in the form of a feed suspension. The vibrating sorter has a vibrating box which has the light-material overflow at one end face and a heavy-material discharge, which is raised with respect to the light-material overflow, at the opposite end face, there being arranged, between the light-material overflow and the heavy-material discharge, a vibrating-box bottom which forms a trough in the side view. Arranged in the region of the lowest point of the trough is a buffer which forms a vibrating-box zone and leaves a passage gap free towards the vibrating-box bottom and separates the vibrating box into a jigging zone extending towards the light-material overflow and a rewashing and dewatering zone extending towards the heavy-material discharge. <IMAGE>
